Shaklee came into our lives when Phil was a soccer coach. A soccer mom offered to prepare and bring all the sports drinks and snacks for a tournament. Little did he know what effect those Shaklee sports nutrition products would have on his team. They didn't win the tournament but they certainly surprised a team that been undefeated and never scored on all season. When that team won the game they were exhausted...too tired to play the next game...while our guys were still kicking the ball on the field and FULL of energy. Phil knew there must be something special on the products that soccer mom brought. We say, Shaklee sports nutrition products won't improve your playing skills, but they'll sure let you use your skills longer.

We had been using products from another company and it took us a little while to accept the invitation by that soccer mom to take a closer look at Shaklee. And are we're so glad we did. We already knew the sports nutrition products were effective. We made the decision to join and switch brands to Shaklee and fell in love with ALL the Shaklee products. Phil, (now a senior insurance underwriter) with a background in research and economic development, understand and appreciated the value of Shaklee science. He began introducing the sports drink to our local high school soccer teams, which by the way, the varsity boys and girls teams competed so well that they won their region and went to the state playoffs for the two years they used the Shaklee sports drink. I began sharing Shaklee with our friends and family. We loved the products and saw the health benefits our family received so it was hard to keep quiet about what we'd found.

Beyond the soccer teams and Phil being a good referral partner, our business was pretty much my efforts. I was a mom of three children, (son followed by twins not quite two years later...life was busy) and I worked full time as a graphic artist for a local printing company for a total of 20 years. But, I managed to create a customer base and support our members for several years in my spare time. Due to illness and deaths of both my parents along with another challenge in our lives, we put our business on the back burner for several years. But, during those years, our business continued to pay us for the efforts we'd started even when I wasn't active in our business - this is called residual income that continues to pay you even when you're not working. We had developed some loyal customers.

In 2003, life was beginning to settle down and we were able to focus again on our business. After attending a spring Shaklee meeting, we were inspired and made the decision to build our business. By November of that year, we achieved the first leadership level in Shaklee - Director. We have had steady growth since. We see the earning opportunity with Shaklee as a wonderful way to help others. At the same time, I enjoy the flexibility of being my own boss to manage my time, volunteer in my church, and create income that pays for our products and much more. In this economic day and age, job security is a myth. We believe everyone should have a backup plan, a Plan-B. Shaklee is a good tax shelter to keep more of your money. As Phil retires the summer of 2011, he'll jump into the business full-time with me. Shaklee will be a major source for our retirement income, fun, travel and time to spend with friends and family.
